Dear South African Airways Cargo,

AIDS Babies and its volunteers wish to thank South African Airways Cargo for generously providing free shipping of several hundred toys that were collected from school children in Canada for AIDS orphans in South Africa.

Our organization especially appreciates the airline’s efforts in requesting assistance from Air Canada, as at that time South African Airlines did not fly from Canadian points of departure.

This shipment of toys, many of them collected from school children in St. Catharines/Niagara, left Toronto, Canada on Air Canada for London, England on Dec. 1, 2004, which is World AIDS Day.

In London, they were transferred to South Africa Airways Cargo staff that then sent them on to Durban, South Africa.

It is heartening to see two companies working together in unity to help others in need.

Special thanks to many of South African Airways Cargo staff, in particular senior manager of communications Thola Nzuza in Johannesburg, who coordinated all the arrangements, Sean O’Brien in London for his technical help and expertise and Jackie Le Roux in Durban, whose efforts made for a seamless transition through Customs.

Kindest regards,
AIDS Babies
